2024-25 Updates

We are weeks away from the start of the 2024-25 award and academic year! This year is monumental because of the large number of changes that were made to the FAFSA and how your financial aid eligibility is determined as a result of the FAFSA Simplification Act. We have appreciated your patience as we prepare to adapt to the first changes made in Financial Aid in 40 years. We are working diligently to get award information posted in a timely fashion prior to the start of the Fall 2024 semester. In the meantime, please take note of the following important information and timelines:

If eligible, Pell Grant awards will be available to view on Web-Gate by the end of June
As we adapt to the many systemic changes related to new federal regulations, posted awards are subject to change
Award and Tracking letters will be sent via email no later than mid-July
SAP statuses are being updated now. Check your Web-Gate account this week to determine your 2024-25 SAP status. Submit your SAP Appeals early to allow ample time for processing. Note: If you are on an academic plan or probation, you will not receive a Fall 2024 SAP status until the end of the Summer 24 semester
Fall 2024 Loan Requests will be available on WCCCD Student Forms July 1st
Michigan Reconnect, F4F and TIP awards will begin to be posted in July
Monitor your Web-Gate messages, student email, WCCCD Student Portal and Web-Gate Student Requirements regularly for updates and communication from the WCCCD Financial Aid Office regarding document requirements

Documents Submission Deadline

Fall Loan Request - October 31st
Spring Loan Request - April 1st
Summer Loan Request - June 15th
All Other Financial Aid Documents - July 15th

HELLO BORROWING STUDENTS!

The Student Loan Management Center objective is to inform and provide support for students who borrow. We want to provide the tools and resources necessary to assist students with avoiding loan default. Students should review and accept Loan Terms & Conditions to remain informed. This requirement can be completed through Web Gate under the student requirements tab.

STUDENT LOAN REPAYMENT HAS RESUMED

Congress passed a law preventing further extensions of the payment pause. Student loan interest resumed in September, 2023 and repayments resumed in October, 2023. Remember that student loans MUST BE REPAID. Avoid going into default status by contacting your loan servicer or logging on to https://studentaid.gov to review the many affordable repayment options that are available. Failure to repay student loans may result in wage garnishments, reduction of your credit score and other negative consequences.
